Cycles may be stored in any locked structures such as garages or sheds. Internal private spaces, such as dedicated spaces in a utility room. External or internal communal cycle stores. Cycle storage in communal locations should have adequate lighting.
The spaces to hang your bike should be in racks that are covered overhead and the racks should be fixed to a permanant structure such as abuilding or hardstanding. They are usually where the location is external to the home, access from the bike storage area to a pedestrian or cycle route is not permitted through the home.
A smoking area is a place which is specifically provided and furnished for smoking, generally outside buildings where smoking is otherwise prohibited inside.
Smoking rooms can be found in public buildings such as airports, and in semi-public buildings such as workplaces. Such rooms are commonly equipped with chairs, ashtrays and ventilation.
The benefits of a smoking area are that they limit secondhand smoke exposure to non-smokers and try and reduce cigarettes consumption by smokers by having them actively exit a building in order to smoke.
The law prohibits smoking in any public place that is “enclosed or substantially enclosed”. Premises will be considered enclosed if they have a ceiling or roof and, except for doors, windows or passageways are wholly enclosed, on a permanent or temporary basis for example tents or marquees.
Maintenance
Timber is a living product and given enough time it will degrade. To get the best possible life span from the product it is recommend that the timber is treated every 2 – 3 years. This is best undertaken with a solvent based treatment during the summer months, so that it can soak into the dry wood.
